Extensions & Me.

Remember that scene in Little Mermaid when Ariel is brushing her hair with a dinglehopper? Remember how vibrant, thick, & long her hair was? What about Rapunzel in Tangled? Or, one of my favorites, Pocahontas’s hair blowing through all the colors of the wind?

I grew up LOVING these movies, I even had a Pocahontas birthday party when I was younger.

I also grew up being the youngest, & only girl. I have two older brothers who are a few years older than I. When I came around my Mother did her best with my hair, but we both had no idea what we were doing. She would style my hair but it was so thin, & fine it would just fall. Even as a baby she had to tape bows to my head so people would know I was a girl.

I remember always being in awe of the princess’s hair… I would swim in the pool & make my hair try to flow like Ariel’s. I would run around with my friends imagining my hair would never tangle, & look perfect like Pocahontas.

Well, like every fairytale story, reality came in like an evil villain to destroy those dreams.

Reality for me was, no matter how much I tried to grow my hair. It would not grow.

I personally suffer from thin, breaking hair due to my health.

I am a Auto Immune Warrior & proud baby! I suffer from Hashimotos Thyroid Disease, & Lupus. Which means the odds are NOT in my favor & the reality of achieving the hair I always dreamed of having wasn’t in the cards for me.

I tried everything, better hair care products, supplements, & even completely changing my hair care routine. Nothing worked. This went on for a few years, I started my career in the beauty industry, & was finally introduced to the magic of extensions!

I had tried multiple different types of extensions on my own head. Some I liked, others I did not, & nothing really stuck out to me… until I came to Lifted Salon & met the owner Jacki Spellman.

Jacki showed me the art of Hand Tied Extensions, using methods that create the least amount of damage, & are extremely comfortable to wear. How every detail matters down to the threads & beads we use. How our method is more comfortable to wear because it isn’t sewn onto your scalp. I watched for about a year… til I finally took the plunge.

Now I have had my own extensions in for a year myself. I know what placement makes my lifestyle, & heart happy. I love how comfortable they are to wear. However, the most important part is how NO ONE (who doesn’t know me… cause a lot of people know I have them cause I talk about it a lot) knows I have extensions.

Learning this service is very personal for me. Being someone who always wanted the princess hair, I can now have it myself, & provide it for others who struggle.

I do my best to pay attention to every detail, color matching, scalp tensions, beads showing so that no one can tell you have extensions, & you can wear them with ease.

So why do I do extensions? For the inner child in me, who was always wishing to have the princess hair, & being able to provide that for others.
