My Background
So now that you know one of my main values, I wanted to take a second to let you know more about my background. I am a lived-in, balayage & extension artist at Lifted Salon. I went about the beauty industry I little bit backwards.
I was always in LOVE with the beauty industry. I remember going to tour a beauty school with one of my friends in High School & being in awe of it all. Instead, my parents at the time felt that with my current trajectory of swimming, & pursuing a business degree, community college would be the best bet for me. Which, now that I think about it, was still a great idea.. til I got injured on the swim team, injuring my shoulder, & saying goodbye to that concept.
Once I got injured it took a lot for me to figure out my next move. I was going through the emotions, working jobs at the mall, & learning more about myself. I always loved asking big questions, like “Why am I here?”, or “What’s my purpose in life?” so I signed up for Sierra College, which became like home to me, & got my AA in psychology. I was working with children with Autism, learning how to build systems for kids to grow, executing systems, & having a great time… til eventually both the continued years of schooling needed to progress in school, & doing the job created the ultimate burnout & my passion sizzled out.
That’s when I went back to the drawing board, & asked myself “What’s my purpose in life?”
I loved giving back. I loved helping others feel good about themselves. I enjoyed getting to know people in my community, & most importantly I loved helping others grow.
So I looked around at people I admired in my life, & the majority of them were in the beauty industry. So I found a local salon, became a front desk receptionist, & began my journey. I worked my way up to a lead, manager, to eventually becoming the District Manager. Creating systems, managing all salons, & really learning the business side of this industry. It gave me my foothold. It gave me a TON of insights, & I loved every minute of it. However, I wasn’t able to be the best manager I could be at times because I didn’t understand a certain side of the business… which was being physically behind the chair. So finally, one day my Grandma asked me, “Abby you love this industry so much, why don’t you just do it?” That’s when I finally said, “What the heck!” & went for it, signing up at Paul Mitchell MTI to get my cosmetology license, & now here I am! Funny how life works, it really was one big circle.
Now I am here to not only provide beautiful, naturally enhanced hair behind the chair, but also support those around me with Social Media, & creating a sustainable approach to their business. I love my background, all the weird icky spots, the awesome accomplishments, everything in between, & what lies ahead.
